Geography has the capacity to reach many different learner types. Activities can range from:
High order thinking tasks such as analysing data, drafting and challenging hypotheses through a student determined methodology
Spatial learning through using and drafting graphs and maps, and analysing the message of such data
Experiential learning through field work
Teamwork and collective constructive action towards present environmental challenges.
*SCROLL DOWN TO SEE HOW ALL THE ABOVE ARE APPLIED IN ONE HUMAN GEOGRAPHY ACTIVITY, WHICH I PLANNED COLLABORATIVELY AND FACILITATED AT THE GEOGRAPHY BIG WEEK OUT CAMP*
Geography and Environmental Awards
* 2006 Blake Dawson Waldron Prize for International Environmental Law for being the highest achieving Monash law student in this subject.
* Runner-up in the Geography Global Challenge subject.

Geography Research
*South Africa fieldtrip researching the effects of Apartheid on contemporary South Africa.
*New Orleans researching the civil rights issues surrounding Hurrican Katrina
Teaching Geography
* Volunteer teacher at the National Geography ‘Geography Big Week Out Camp’ attended by the
two highest performing Geography students from each state in Australia.
Teaching the best students in Australia has left me with high, yet achievable, expectations for my future classes. I will be encouraging my students to be a part of this competition as a purposeful means of applying geography.
*Taught year 7 and VCE Geography whilst on placement, including running a Rivers fieldtrip to the Dandenong Creek. I have since modified the fieldwork and drafted a year 11 SAC to relate to the Balcombe Creek.
* Tutored university students in Geography. Consequently I have a strong understanding of the
academic expectations that VCE students have to meet in their near future.
* Presented an activity I ran in class to teachers during a geography PD.
